Fukano Select Whiskey is a core release from Fukano Distillery in Hitoyoshi, Kumamoto Prefecture, a family distillery founded in 1823 on the island of Kyushu. Fukano's whisky is distilled from rice fermented with koji and aged in oak, a method rooted in the region's shochu tradition, and Select is a blend of casks chosen for balance, bottled at 43% ABV.The nose is sweet vanilla, oak and a whisper of orchard fruit. The palate shows ripe apple, pear and a touch of citrus interwoven with the warm embrace of oak and a delicate thread of spice. The mouthfeel is silky and medium-bodied, and the finish is enduring, sweet, fruity and slightly spicy. Serve it neat, with water, or in an elegant highball. This 750ml bottle is the best place to start with Fukano's distinctive rice whisky.
