Brucato Amaro Chaparral Reserve Liqueur｜ Other Products

Brucato's standard Chaparral already picked up serious hardware — Double Gold medals at both the 2021 and 2022 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, plus Best Herbal/Botanical Liqueur honors — built as a substitute for increasingly hard-to-find Green Chartreuse, using yerba santa (a California native herb prized historically by Spanish missionaries and apothecaries for its medicinal, licorice-tea-like character), spearmint, cardamom, and California bay leaf among twenty total botanicals. This Reserve expression takes that same base and rests it 26 months in Wild Turkey Rye Whiskey barrels, layering in warm anise, cinnamon, and genuine oak character alongside the herbal backbone, with slightly less added sugar than the standard release since the barrel itself pulls natural sweetness from the botanicals. The result reads richer and more full-bodied than the base Chaparral, though it keeps that same bright herbal identity underneath. Worth noting: not every reviewer loves standard Chaparral's intensity — Drinkhacker found it could tip medicinal, with heavy mint and eucalyptus notes some tasters compare to NyQuil, so this is a genuinely assertive style of liqueur rather than an easy crowd-pleaser. Best used the way you'd use Chartreuse: in a Last Word, a highball, or sipped as a digestif.
